Description:
This position is for a registered nurse in a step-down unit.
The unit provides acute and intermediate care for the surgical patient population.
Patients are admitted for various surgical procedures, including cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgeries.
The nurse-patient ratio is 4 or 5:1 in acute care and 3:1 in the intermediate monitoring unit.
The unit consists of 28 beds, including both acute care and intermediate care beds.
The intermediate monitoring unit cares for patients needing advanced monitoring but not intensive care.
Night shifts are available, with the option to offer 36 or 48 hours.
Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed.
Every other weekend is required, and two out of three winter holidays must be worked.
Time off cannot be approved around a specific holiday.
BLS certification is required, and ACLS certification is preferred.
Candidates must adhere to floating policies within the facility.
Epic experience is required for this position.
The unit manages various patient diagnoses, including post-operative cardiac and thoracic surgeries.
Special procedures and equipment used include arterial lines, chest tubes, and patient-controlled analgesia pumps.
The unit collaborates with interdisciplinary teams for comprehensive patient care.
