Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intermediate Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 hours Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Massachusetts Nursing License required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: Experience with tracheostomies, ventilators, high-flow nasal cannula, cardiac drips, BiPAP, and telemetry Description: This position is in an Intermediate Care Unit that is part medical-telemetry and part medical step-down. The unit has a total of 42 beds, with 21 dedicated to medical patients and 21 for intermediate care patients. Expected ratios for patient care are 1:3 for intermediate care and 1:6 for medical patients. Common cases seen include pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease exacerbation, diabetic ketoacidosis, hyperglycemic hyperosmolar state, alcohol withdrawal, gastrointestinal bleeding, sepsis, pulmonary embolism, urinary tract infections, and respiratory failure. Candidates should have experience working on both sides of the floor (medical-telemetry and intermediate care). Floating to other units may occur periodically. Experience in the required areas is essential for successful performance in this role. Holiday coverage may be required.
