Common cases include pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease exacerbations, diabetic ketoacidosis, hyperglycemic hyperosmolar state, alcohol withdrawal, gastrointestinal bleeding, sepsis, pulmonary embolism, urinary tract infections, and respiratory failure. Nurses may be required to float to other units. Candidates must have the ability to work effectively across both medical-telemetry and intermediate care areas.
