This position requires experience in multiple areas of nursing. The RN will identify patient and significant others' needs for education. Education will be provided utilizing appropriate modalities. Ensures patient safety through preventative measures such as side rails and safe use of equipment. Follows restraint policy correctly and evaluates/document patient responses appropriately. Demonstrates knowledge of the safe operation of all equipment in the PCU/Telemetry/MedSurg areas. Aware of troubleshooting techniques and follows procedures for equipment repair. Implements infection control and isolation procedures with proper documentation. Utilizes standard precautions at all times. Maintains complete, accurate, and concise documentation of patient status, nursing interventions, and patient responses. Documents charge accurately and ensures timeliness of completing physician's orders. Completes a 24-hour check of orders as per assigned shift duties. Provides a complete and accurate change of shift report to oncoming staff. Communicates effectively with other departments to ensure clarity. Reports critical lab values to the physician in a timely manner according to policy. Maintains and restocks emergency carts, rooms, and general supplies. Performs other duties as assigned. This role requires flexibility and a proactive approach to patient care.
