Registered Nurse - Medical-Surgical / Progressive Care Unit

Job Summary

This role is for an experienced Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive care within a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital located in Clarkston, Washington. The primary focus will be on the Medical-Surgical and Progressive Care Units, caring for a diverse adult patient population.

The ideal candidate will be adept at managing a variety of patient conditions, demonstrating strong clinical judgment, and ensuring patient safety and education. This position requires a flexible professional willing to float and support various departments as operational needs dictate, contributing to the overall efficiency and high standard of patient care in a dynamic hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive patient education to patients and their significant others, utilizing appropriate modalities.
  • Ensure patient safety through preventative measures, including proper use of side rails, restraints, and equipment, adhering strictly to policy and documentation requirements.
  • Operate and troubleshoot medical equipment safely and effectively within PCU/Telemetry/Med-Surg areas, accessing manuals as needed.
  • Implement and document infection control and isolation procedures, consistently utilizing standard precautions.
  • Maintain accurate, concise, and complete documentation of patient status, nursing interventions, and responses during assigned shifts.
  • Accurately document charges and ensure timely completion of physician orders, including 24-hour order checks as assigned.
  • Deliver thorough and accurate change-of-shift reports to oncoming staff.
  • Communicate effectively and accurately with other hospital departments.
  • Report critical lab values to physicians promptly and according to policy.
  • Manage and restock emergency carts, patient rooms, and general unit supplies.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in Medical-Surgical and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing.
  • Willingness and ability to float to other departments as needed within a Critical Access Hospital setting.
