- 2 years of MS, PCU, ICU experience
- Experience in a similar setting within the last year
- Drip experience is required
- Experience with trach and vents is highly preferred
- Willingness to learn if not already experienced
Description:
This position is for a Med Surg/PCU/Tele RN on a Neuro Trauma unit.
The unit focuses on neuro patients, including strokes, seizures, Guillain Barre, Myasthenia gravis, spinal injuries, and thrombectomies.
The unit also handles trauma orthopedic injuries, including hematomas and bleeds from falls, thinners, farm accidents, and MVAs.
Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5 during the day and 1:5-6 at night, depending on acuity.
Common titratable drips include Heparin, Nitro, Diltiazem, Amiodarone, and Insulin.
Charge nurses take assignments and are responsible for managing their team.
There are nurse aides on the unit to assist with patient care.
Patient care equipment includes vents, trachs, CPAP, BiPAP, and EtCO2.
Nurses are required to read strips as central monitoring is located in a different area.
Self-scheduling is available, but the manager balances shifts.
Every other weekend and holiday commitment is expected.
Floating to sister units may be required.
Scrub color is not restricted, allowing for any solid color scrubs.
Unit-specific orientation is provided with a preceptor.
All clinicians must clock in and out during their shifts.
