Description

Job Opportunity – Acute Leukemia and Hematology RN – Ohio

Start Date: October 5, 2026

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour shifts, days/nights rotating schedule based on department needs. Shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period. Weekend coverage variable based on unit needs. 72-hour orientation provided.

Highlights:

  • Specialty oncology unit focusing on newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients
  • Goal staffing ratio of 1:4 (may extend to 1:5 based on census)
  • 24-bed unit with daily census of approximately 22 patients, serving adult and geriatric populations
  • No chemotherapy certification required for this position
  • EPIC electronic medical record system in use
  • Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including rapid response teams, pharmacy, physical therapy, respiratory services, and more
  • May float to other medical-surgical oncology units as needed
  • One pre-approved time off period available per contract

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years acute care nursing experience required
  • At least 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU/stepdown/IMC) experience required
  • Current, active acute care experience within the last 12 months strongly preferred
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Valid RN license (compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
  • Nursing education from ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • NIHSS certification preferred
  • ONS Chemotherapy certification preferred but not required
  • Proficiency in telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
  • Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central line management
  • Skills in feeding tube care, PICC line management, peripheral line care, and starting IVs
  • Experience with EPIC charting system required
  • Oncology experience preferred

Special Focus Areas:

  • Heavy emphasis on infection prevention protocols
  • Patient falls prevention initiatives
  • High volume of blood product administration
  • IV antibiotics and electrolyte management

Important Compliance Information:

  • Strict compliance deadline of Tuesday prior to start date
  • Ohio fingerprinting process must be completed immediately upon contract signing
  • Candidates must be responsive and cooperative with credentialing team
  • Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required
  • Two professional references required: at least one from manager/director or formal leadership; charge RN acceptable for second reference
  • Former employees eligible after 6 months away from facility
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate

  • GE telemetry monitoring system (B450 monitors)
  • Alaris IV pumps
  • Stryker beds
  • Bladder scanners
