Description

Job Opportunity – Progressive Care / Medical-Surgical RN – Ohio

Start Date: September 20, 2026

Location: Ohio

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 13-16 week contract extension; 72-hour orientation; Weekend shifts vary based on unit needs

Highlights:

  • Mixed unit assignment with both Progressive Care Unit (1:3 ratio) and Medical-Surgical (1:4-5 ratio) shifts
  • 36-bed specialty unit with daily census of 36 patients serving adult and geriatric populations
  • Epic charting system utilized across all clinical documentation
  • Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Pharmacy, Rapid Response Teams, and Social Services
  • Secure corrections healthcare environment with robust safety protocols and Corrections Officer support (1:2 officer to patient ratio)
  • One pre-approved time off period available during contract

Requirements:

  • Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
  • Minimum 2 years of current acute care experience in PCU or Medical-Surgical specialty
  • Must have worked consistently in specialty within the last 12 months
  • Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Previous charge experience preferred
  • Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
  • Proficiency in telemetry monitoring, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, central line care, chest tubes, dysrhythmia management and interpretation, cardiac drip management, high flow nasal cannula, IV insulin protocols, heparin protocols, and tracheostomy care
  • 2 professional references required (at least one from manager/director or formal leadership; Charge RN acceptable for second reference)
  • Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccination not required
  • Must complete Ohio fingerprinting process immediately upon contract signing
