Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours (07:00 - 19:30) Experience: Minimum 1 year preferred License: State or Compact license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Previous charge experience preferred - Experience with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 5-6 Description: This position involves caring for a mixture of med/surg and intermediate care patients. Nurse-to-patient ratios will range from 1:4 to 1:6, depending on patient assignments each shift. The unit accepts first-time travelers. The nurse will be responsible for telemetry and PCU/DOU/IMC/Step Down skills. Responsibilities include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, utilization of rapid response and code teams, blood product administration, and central line care and management. Other skills include management of cardiac drips, oxygen administration, non-invasive airway management, and isolation precautions. The role will also require experience in post-cardiac angiogram, pre/post cardiac cath, and pre/post cardiac surgery procedures. The nurse will participate in patient care that includes wound care, tracheostomy care, and IV insulin protocols. Experience with telemetry monitoring, pacemaker management, and arterial line management is beneficial. Candidates should also be able to interpret arterial blood gases and manage high flow nasal cannula therapy. This position requires working with adult and geriatric patient populations with a daily census of 12-14. Interdisciplinary support will be available from various services throughout the shift. All required qualifications must be met prior to the start of the contract period.
