Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Critical Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night shift Hours per Shift: 12.5 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active state nursing license required Certifications: ACLS certification required Must-Have: Epic experience required Navy blue scrubs required Description: The nurses in our Progressive Critical Care Unit care for medically delicate and surgically complex patients. Common patient conditions include respiratory failure, sepsis, closed head injuries, multi-system organ dysfunction, endocrine disorders, complex traumas, and surgical complications. Candidates must be competent in the care of medical and surgical populations. Advanced knowledge in hemodynamics, including pressor usage per titration protocols, is essential. Candidates should have experience administering antihypertensive drips, sedative and Narcan drips, thrombo-embolytics, and managing central venous pressure (CVP), external ventricular drains (EVD), and ortho traction. Infection prevention protocols need to be understood and followed. Furthermore, experience with high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), BiPap, and CPAP is necessary. Nurses with significant adult Progressive Critical Care Unit experience and community hospital ICU experience tend to excel in this environment. The average patient load is three high-acuity patients. A competency test will be required within 24 hours of submission.
