TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified PCU RN in Shreveport, Louisiana, 71103!

Job Title: Registered Nurse - PCU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years PCU RN experience or 2 years of perm staff (acute care) RN experience for first-time travelers. License: Active RN license required. Certifications: Required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS. Preferred: LVAD certification (specific to Cardiac PCU). Must-Have: Traveler must be able to pass an EKG competency exam prior to arrival. General PCU skillset includes titrating cardiac drips, insulin drips, and vasopressors. Experience in managing chest tubes, traches, central lines, and wound care is necessary. Description: The facility has a total of 24-25 beds in the PCU. The patient population includes those recovering from surgeries such as CABG, lung surgery, and PCI interventions. Conditions treated include respiratory failure, CVA, DKA, sepsis, and post-surgical care. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:3-4. Support on the unit includes CNAs, techs, and a charge nurse who may or may not have a patient assignment. The unit has resources including phlebotomy staff, a resource nurse, and a hospitalist available on call 24/7. Charting is done through an electronic medical record system. Candidates must be prepared to work every other weekend and will have a mandatory schedule of working 4 days one week and 3 days the next. Travelers must work 2 out of 3 major holidays. Scrub colors required are pewter, with gray, white, or black t-shirts. Jackets must be gray or black, and badges must be worn visibly at all times. The unit culture is diverse with multiple travelers and a traveler-friendly atmosphere.
