Description:
This position involves caring for patients in a progressive care unit with a high acuity level.
The unit provides care for patients with solid tumors, orthopedic oncology, and thoracic oncology.
The role requires expertise in telemetry monitoring and other advanced nursing skills.
Nurses must have experience with accessing ports, administering blood products, and managing central lines.
You will be expected to interpret Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs) and manage tracheostomies.
Pediatric patients are occasionally cared for on this unit, although experience with pediatrics is not required.
The patient-to-nurse ratio is typically 1:4-5 for medical-surgical telemetry and 1:3 for PCU.
The role demands strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with an interdisciplinary team.
All candidates must have high acuity experience and be proficient in managing infection prevention protocols.
