Experience in ICU/Intermediate (Stepdown) nursing with a nurse to patient ratio of 3 to 1 or 2 to 1.
Experience with tracheostomy and ventilator care.
Description:
This position involves caring for patients with a wide range of medical conditions including COPD, CHF, diabetes, sepsis, renal issues, DKA, alcohol withdrawal, overdoses, pneumonia, and other respiratory conditions.
You will manage patients who may require BiPAP, CPAP, or face mask ventilation, as well as those with tracheostomies, chest tubes, G-tubes, NG tubes, PICC lines, and central lines.
You will be required to titrate drips, including but not limited to Cardene, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Heparin, and low dose vasopressors.
A charge nurse will be present on each shift, who may take an assignment if staffing is not ideal.
Patient Care Technicians will assist on the unit, typically taking care of 10 patients each.
All patients will be monitored using bedside telemetry, and interpreting strips will be confirmed by registered nurses in conjunction with telemetry technicians.
The unit operates with a shift schedule of 12 hours, from 7 PM to 7 AM.
Every other weekend and holiday rotation will be required.
Travel nurses may be floated to other units as needed, depending on their experience and the level of care required.
Dress code allows for any color scrubs.
