Description:
The traveler will work in both an intermediate care acute medical/progressive care unit and a thoracic unit.
This role requires evening/night shifts of 12 hours.
Shifts will occur from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, Monday through Friday, with every other weekend and some holidays required.
Telemetry experience is essential, including the management of complex cases.
The traveler is expected to pass a telemetry test prior to starting.
Responsibilities will include providing care for a variety of patients with lung and esophageal diseases, and patients recovering from thoracic surgeries such as lobectomies and esophagectomies.
The nurse will assist with procedures like chest tube insertion in the procedural area within the unit.
Candidates should possess skills in managing ports and arterial lines, administering blood products, and interpreting arterial blood gases.
Experience in using high-flow nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management is also required.
The nursing unit promotes strong teamwork, compassionate care, and critical thinking.
The traveler will bring innovation to the unit and engage in acquiring new skills while integrating evidence-based nursing practices.
Daily census will involve seven patients, and the nurse should be comfortable working with adults and geriatric populations.
Support services available on the unit include IV teams, respiratory services, and pharmacy.
Patient diagnoses will include those following esophagectomies and cardiac surgeries.
Travelers may be required to float as needed, based on unit demands.
