Description:
This position is for a stepdown registered nurse.
Candidates must be willing to comply with unit-specific policies, including a policy on artificial nails.
Nurses will be required to complete a pass/fail exam during orientation.
Success on this unit requires the ability to manage day-to-day responsibilities effectively.
The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4 on both day and night shifts.
Common patient diagnoses include CVA, TIA, shortness of breath, and COVID-19.
PCA pumps for pain management, cardizem, and insulin are examples of common drips/medications used on this unit.
Mechanical lifts are available in every other room.
Nurses will work with a tight-knit team that supports one another.
Weekend shifts are required every other weekend.
Patients are primarily adults, with pediatric patients aged 15 and older rarely admitted.
Additional unit support includes educators, care managers, social workers, dieticians, physical therapists, and occupational therapists.
Floating to medical-surgical areas may be required based on patient needs.
Hourly rounding and responsiveness are key focuses for patient experience.
Nurses in this role will utilize EPIC for charting.
