Description:
This position is for a Registered Nurse in a PCU/Med Surg/Oncology specialty.
The primary patient population consists of adult oncology and trauma patients.
The unit has a total of 18 beds.
RNs will be required to pass a clinical interview and a manager interview.
An open book exam will be administered during orientation, requiring a 90% to pass.
Failure to meet the passing score may lead to contract termination.
Artificial nails are not permitted in patient care areas.
RNs should be familiar with titrating insulin and Cardizem drips.
Common medications include chemotherapy agents, heparin, and protonix.
High flow respiratory equipment may be encountered on this unit.
Support staff includes nursing assistants, charge nurses, case managers, and social workers.
Hourly rounding and bedside shift reports are key focuses for patient experience.
The team prioritizes genuine care, positive attitudes, and teamwork.
A diverse patient population is served, with emphasis on respect and compassion.
Float assignments to other Med/Surg and PCU units may occur, maintaining the same level of care.
Cancellation of shifts may occur according to established policies.
The charting system used is electronic and requires proficiency.
