Job Title: RN - PCU/MS Float Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: PCU/MS Float Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (18:45 - 07:15) Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Active state or compact RN license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: - Must be comfortable working all PCU and MS units - EPIC charting experience required - Experienced in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration - Skilled in central line care, trach management, and non-invasive airway support including nasal cannula, CPAP/BiPAP, and chest tubes - Proficient in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management - Capable of managing PCA and heparin protocols, administering IV insulin, and handling endocrine/metabolic conditions - Background includes telemetry and stepdown-level care Description: The position is for an RN who will float between PCU and MS units. Traveling nurses may float 2-3 times per shift as staffing needs are re-evaluated every 4 hours. The average patient ratio for PCU is 5:1, while for MS it is 6:1, which may flex up to 7:1. May require working every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block. Mandatory holiday work is required during the contract period. Experience in a Level I Trauma Center is preferred but not required. Familiarity with interdisciplinary support services is necessary, as collaboration with various teams is essential for patient care. Knowledge of special procedures and equipment in a stepdown unit is beneficial. Adhere to facility policies including call-off policies where applicable. This role requires a commitment to providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.
