Description:
The unit consists of 32 beds.
The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3 for Stepdown assignments and 1:4 for combo assignments.
Common diagnoses include post-surgical thoracic and medicine patients.
RNs are required to titrate medications based on specific parameters.
Common medications include Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dopamine, Nitro, Esmolol, Heparin, and Lasix.
Charge Nurse and House Supervisors are available on the unit.
There are 3 to 4 Certified Nursing Assistants per shift.
Bipap and tracheostomy care are provided.
RNs are responsible for interpreting and documenting patient rhythms with assessments every four hours, or more frequently when titrating medications.
Centralized telemetry monitors are available for RN viewing.
The dress code for the unit is royal blue scrubs.
Travelers may be required to work holidays if needed.
Floating to other units would be rare.
The charting system used is EPIC.
