Must-Have:
- Strong cardiac background
- Experience with high-acuity, heavily cardiac-focused PCU units
- Ability to independently interpret cardiac rhythms
- Experience with common cardiac drips including Insulin, Milrinone, Dobutamine, Amiodarone, Heparin, Lasix, Nitroglycerin
- Chest tube experience
- Must pass a Dysrhythmia Exam on the first attempt
Description:
The units focus on high-acuity, heavily cardiac patients.
Travelers are required to have a strong cardiac background.
EPIC experience is necessary.
Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4 to 1:5.
Staff should expect high patient acuity, frequent admissions and discharges, and significant procedural volume.
Common patient populations include Heart Failure, Atrial Fibrillation, Atrial Flutter, Supraventricular Tachycardia, Ventricular Tachycardia, Ventricular Fibrillation, Fluid Volume Overload, Chest Pain, Hypertension, Heart Transplant Patients, Congenital Heart Disease, and LVAD Patients.
Common procedures include Right & Left Heart Catheterizations, TR Band Management, Sheath Removal, Stent Placement, Valve Replacement Procedures, STEMI/NSTEMI Care, Pacemakers, ICDs, Cardioversions, Ablations, and Groin Site Management.
Travelers may float to similar cardiac/PCU units as needed.
Comfort with cardiac acuity, telemetry requirements, and procedures is essential for this assignment.
