Must-Have:
- Ability to independently interpret cardiac rhythms and pass a Dysrhythmia Exam on the first attempt.
- No technical assistance permitted during the exam.
- Strong cardiac background required.
- Experience with common cardiac drips: Insulin, Milrinone, Dobutamine, Amiodarone, Heparin, Lasix, Nitroglycerin.
- Must have chest tube experience and a rating of "4" on all cardiac skills.
- Experience with telemetry interpretation.
Description:
This position is for a high-acuity, heavily cardiac-focused step down unit.
Travelers should possess a strong cardiac background.
The typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4 to 1:5.
Expect high patient acuity and frequent admissions/discharges.
Significant procedural volume is anticipated.
Common patient populations include Heart Failure, Atrial Fibrillation, Atrial Flutter, Supraventricular Tachycardia, Ventricular Tachycardia, Ventricular Fibrillation, Fluid Volume Overload, Chest Pain, Hypertension, Heart Transplant Patients, Congenital Heart Disease, and LVAD Patients.
Common procedures include Right & Left Heart Catheterizations, TR Band Management, Sheath Removal/Management, Stent Placement, Valve Replacement Procedures, STEMI/NSTEMI Care, Pacemakers, ICDs, Cardioversions, Ablations, and Groin Site Management.
Travelers may float to similar cardiac/PCU units as needed.
Comfort with the cardiac acuity, telemetry requirements, and listed procedures is essential before accepting this assignment.
