The Registered Nurse (RN) focuses on safe and effective patient and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes. The RN is responsible for assisting in maintaining a financially stable unit, promoting personal development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members. Applying the caring processes of the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care, the RN has the responsibility to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate the plan of care. The RN focuses on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction. The RN applies educational and professional experiences in the delivery of quality care and mentoring/precepting staff. Job Responsibilities include: Assessment: Performs assessments and reassessments per policy and procedure or as warranted by patient condition. Demonstrates ability to make sound independent decisions. Development and Implementation: Initiates, prioritizes, and implements the plan of care, and reviews and revises the plan as indicated. Collaborates with patient/family and interdisciplinary services. Utilizes resources appropriately to support the needs of the organization, patient, and family. Evaluation: Monitors and documents the response to clinical interventions. Education: Facilitates, coordinates, provides, and evaluates education specific to patient/family needs. Education is provided as appropriate to the care, treatment, and services during their stay and at discharge. Leadership: Delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel. Functions as a mentor/preceptor. Demonstrates and encourages teamwork. Identifies and communicates opportunities for improvement.
