Description:
A professional nurse is accountable for the care of a group of patients.
The Registered Nurse (RN) focuses on safe, effective patient and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes.
The RN is responsible for assisting in maintaining a financially stable unit, promoting personal development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education.
The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members.
Applying the caring processes of the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care, the RN has the responsibility to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate the plan of care.
The RN focuses on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction.
The RN applies educational and professional experiences in the delivery of quality care and mentoring/precepting staff.
Job Responsibilities:
Performance of assessments and reassessments per policy and procedure or as warranted by patient condition.
Demonstration of the ability to make sound independent decisions.
Initiation, prioritization, and implementation of the plan of care while reviewing and revising it as indicated.
Collaboration with patients/families and interdisciplinary services.
Utilization of resources appropriately to support the needs of the organization, patients, and families.
Monitoring and documenting response to clinical interventions.
Facilitation, coordination, provision, evaluation of education specific to patient/family needs.
Leadership by delegating tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel.
Functioning as a mentor/preceptor and fostering teamwork.
Identification and communication of opportunities for improvement.
Participation in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts.
Implementation of practice changes and compliance with regulatory standards.
Engagement in the Practice Governance model.
