# Job Opportunity – Progressive Care Unit / Medical Oncology RN – OhioStart Date: October 5, 2026Location: Columbus, OhioCompensation: Details provided to qualified applicantsSchedule: 12-hour rotating shifts (Days/Nights or Nights only). Shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on department needs. Weekend shifts variable based on unit requirements.Highlights:
- 36-bed Oncology Telemetry unit with over 24 beds dedicated to Progressive Care Unit (PCU) level of care
- Patient population includes solid tumor, orthopedic oncology, and thoracic oncology diagnoses
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:3 for PCU patients, 1:4-5 for Med-Surg Telemetry patients
- Epic charting system with GE telemetry monitoring
- 72-hour comprehensive orientation program
- Oncology experience preferred but not required – nurses with ICU and PCU backgrounds excel in this environment
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience, with at least 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience
- Current, active acute care experience within the last 12 months required
- Valid RN license (Compact or Ohio state license in hand at time of application)
- Certifications: BLS (BCLS), ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Previous travel experience preferred
- Willingness to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity
- Two professional references required (at least one from a manager/director or formal leadership role)
Essential Skills:
- Dysrhythmia interpretation and telemetry monitoring
- Accessing and managing ports, central lines, PICC lines, and peripheral IV care
- Blood product administration and heparin protocols
- Managing cardiac drips (non-titration), PCA pumps, and cardiac drip titration
- Chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac)
- Respiratory support: CPAP/BIPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), tracheostomy management
- ABG interpretation and feeding tube care
- Use of rapid response teams and code protocols
Preferred Skills:
- Chemotherapy administration and monitoring
- IV insulin and insulin drip titration protocols
- Arterial line management and phlebotomy
- Wound care/wound vac and surgical drain management
- Non-invasive airway management
