Job Opportunity – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse – Ohio

Start Date: October 5, 2026

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour shifts (Days/Nights or Nights only, rotating schedules based on unit needs); variable weekend coverage; 16-week assignment; staffing ratios goal 1:4, may be 1:5

Highlights:

  • Mixed acuity Surgical Oncology PCU caring for both PCU and Med Surg patients on a fast-paced surgical floor
  • Diverse patient population including surgical oncology (breast, thyroid, melanoma), hepatobiliary, colorectal, plastics, orthopedic surgery, and cardiothoracic surgery cases
  • Procedures include chemotherapy administration, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, oncologic emergencies, cytokine release syndrome, insulin and heparin drips, and chest tube care
  • Epic electronic medical record system with GE telemetry monitoring, Alaris pumps, and Stryker beds
  • Strong interdisciplinary support including IV teams, pharmacy, respiratory services, rapid response teams, and social services
  • Floating may be required to other acute care oncology units within scope of practice

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience, with at least 1 year of PCU experience (must be current and consistent within the last 12 months)
  • Current RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (ONS Chemo certification preferred)
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Experience with cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and tracheostomy care
  • Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
  • Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
  • Two professional references required (at least one from a manager/director or formal leadership role)
