Job Opportunity – Progressive Care Unit / Surgical Oncology RN – Ohio

Start Date: October 5, 2026

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour shifts (days, nights, or rotating day/night based on departmental needs); weekend coverage variable based on unit needs; 16-week assignment with 72 hours of orientation

Highlights:
  • Mixed acuity Progressive Care Unit specializing in surgical oncology patients, including breast, thyroid, melanoma, hepatobiliary, colorectal, and plastic/reconstructive surgery cases
  • Progressive care and medical-surgical patient populations with staffing ratios of 1:4 to 1:5
  • Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and physical therapy
  • Epic electronic medical record system with GE telemetry monitoring, Alaris pumps, and modern unit equipment
  • Opportunity to work with oncologic emergencies, chemotherapy administration, blood transfusions, insulin and heparin drips, and complex surgical patients
  • Flexibility required: floating within scope of practice to other acute care oncology units as needed
Requirements:
  • Valid RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
  • Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience with at least 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience
  • Current, consistent acute care experience within the last 12 months required
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; ONS Chemotherapy certification preferred
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Proficiency in cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, chest tube care, tracheostomy management, and BiPAP/CPAP management
  • Experience with adult and geriatric patient populations
  • Nursing education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Two professional references required (at least one from a manager/director or formal supervisor)
  • Ability to complete Ohio fingerprinting process urgently upon contract signing
  • Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
