It serves a variety of high acuity patient populations including those with sepsis, respiratory failure, gastrointestinal bleeding, liver failure, and diabetic ketoacidosis.

Experience with dysrhythmia management. Experience managing patients on ventilators, arterial lines, drip titration, high flow nasal cannula, tracheostomies, and g-tubes. Description: The Medical Progressive Care Unit is a step-down unit from the Medical Intensive Care Unit. It serves a variety of high acuity patient populations including those with sepsis, respiratory failure, gastrointestinal bleeding, liver failure, and diabetic ketoacidosis. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3. Nurses may need to float as necessary within their scope of practice. Every other weekend availability is required. Holidays may also require availability as needed. Nurses will attend a Central Nursing Orientation.
