Description:
The position requires Registered Nurses with a strong clinical background.
The unit manages a mixed medical-surgical patient population along with cardiac and stroke patients.
Nurses are expected to titrate drips, including heparin and insulin, among others.
A charge nurse will be present on each shift, and they may or may not take an assignment depending on staffing needs.
Patient care techs assist on the unit with a ratio of 1:14.
Essential equipment includes code carts, LUCAS machines, and hoyer lifts.
There are telemetry technicians available, and RNs must be proficient in reading and interpreting telemetry results.
The unit employs a six-week scheduling system, with shifts from 0630 to 1900 and 1830 to 0700.
Nurses will be required to work six weekend shifts within a six-week period.
Holiday shifts will be rotated with permanent staff.
Floating to med/surg and other areas of the hospital may be required based on patient care needs.
Scrub color is navy blue.
The unit experiences a high flow of patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
Candidates should possess a collaborative spirit and be willing to work as part of a team to face challenges effectively.
A limited amount of time off is allowed upfront.
Additional time off requests beyond this will not be accepted.
The hospital reserves the right to cancel a certain number of shifts during the assignment period.
Charting will be conducted using the EPIC system.
