Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Surgical Stepdown Duration: 26 weeks Shift: 7 PM - 7 AM Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year progressive care/step down experience required License: Kansas or Multistate license Certifications: AHA BLS required Must-Have: No hits allowed, no exceptions Description: The Surgical Stepdown unit cares for post-operative patients. Patient population includes those recovering from urologic and bariatric surgeries. The unit handles infectious processes requiring surgical intervention, such as abscesses and cellulitis. Patients with gastrointestinal diseases, including SBO and diverticulitis, are also treated. The unit consists of 28 beds. Staffing ratios are 1 nurse to 6 patients. Travelers are expected to be flexible with orientation dates. Weekend rotation is required every other weekend. Request for time off during holidays is allowed. Compliance documentation is required 2 Thursdays prior to the start date. Visible tattoos are permitted unless offensive or inappropriate. Facial and ear piercings are acceptable if they do not interfere with job duties. Vaccination requirements include immunity status for Hepatitis B, MMR, and Varicella. Proof of TDaP and Influenza vaccinations is also required. The facility emphasizes delivering safe, high-quality patient care. Team members engage in collaborative teamwork and critical thinking.
