Description:
The unit has a total of 18 beds.
Staffing ratios are 1 nurse to 3 patients.
Required certifications include ACLS and BLS.
Common diagnoses and types of patients include post MI with sheath pull, ADHS, postoperative vascular, GI bleed, and DKA.
RNs are required to titrate drips.
Common titratable and/or set rate drips include nitroglycerine up to 150 mcg/kg/min, Neo up to 100 mcg/min, and Cardene up to 10 mg/hr.
There are charge nurses and house supervisors available, and under normal circumstances, the charge nurse will not have a team.
There is one patient care technician per shift.
The unit is equipped with BiPAP and CPAP.
All patients are on telemetry, and RNs read the strips.
Self-scheduling is not currently promised, and weekend requirements are every other weekend.
Holiday requirements are on a schedule that equates to about every other holiday.
There is no call or standby requirement.
Floating may be required as needed.
The dress code includes royal scrubs, with undershirts allowed in white, royal blue, or black.
Additional orientation may be provided based on the unit's needs.
