Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1 to 2 years of telemetry experience required License: Active nursing license required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Ability to float between departments as needed Description: The Registered Nurse will work in a 24-bed Intermediate Care Unit. The unit provides care for intermediate medical patients and surgery overflow. Patients may include those recovering from various types of surgeries, diabetic teaching, and wound care. This is a fast-paced unit essential for patient throughput from the Emergency Department and Operating Room. The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:5, but can flex to 1:6 on rare occasions. Charge RN assignments may be required as needed by the unit. Weekend work is required, with 8 shifts in a 6-week scheduling period. Skills required include cardiac monitoring, emergency response, management of dysrhythmias, and IV therapy. Experience with IV insulin protocols and feeding tube management is preferred. Additional skills may include nasal cannula use, oxygen administration, and wound care. The nurse will work with interdisciplinary support teams, including physical therapy and pharmacy. The position involves regular floating between departments, units, and facilities. Compliance with facility requirements is necessary, including training and other job-related modules. The position requires a strong commitment to patient care and teamwork.
