Description:
Registered Nurse in a fast-paced Intermediate Unit.
The unit has a 24 bed capacity.
It accommodates intermediate medical patients and surgery overflow.
Patients may include those undergoing TURPs, laparoscopic cholcystectomies, laparoscopic appendectomies, laparoscopic hernias, eye surgeries, oral surgeries, and requires diabetic teaching and wound care.
Flexibility is required for patient ratios, which are generally 1:5 but may occasionally flex to 1:6.
Charge RN assignments may be assigned as needed.
Weekend shifts are required, with 8 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule period.
Regular floating between departments, units, and facilities may be expected.
Key skills needed include cardiac monitoring, emergency response, interpretation of dysrhythmias, and management of dysrhythmias.
Experience with IV insulin protocols and feeding tube care and management is essential.
Candidates should be comfortable with administering medications including heparin protocols and PCA.
Knowledge of isolation precautions and wound care is beneficial.
Additional preferred skills include titration of insulin drips, management of renal failure, and tracheostomy care.
The patient age groups served include adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
Candidates are expected to manage high patient volumes and maintain quality care standards.
Experience in telemetry and stepdown care is a significant advantage.
The unit offers interdisciplinary support from various healthcare professionals.
Additional roles may involve interaction with rapid response teams and support services.
