Description:
This is a stepdown unit focused on providing specialized care.
The unit serves a diverse patient population, including adults and geriatrics with cardiac, nephrology, stroke, diabetes, and continuous EEG monitoring needs.
Nurses on this unit are required to titrate drips, including Cardizem, beta blockers, and seizure medications.
There is a charge nurse on each shift who oversees the unit but may also take an assignment.
Patient care techs are present with a ratio of 1:10 or 2:20.
Shifts are from 0630-1900 and 1830-0700 with weekend requirements every other weekend and holiday requirements every third holiday.
There is no call or standby requirement.
Nurses may need to float to medical floors, ICU, or rehab.
The onboarding process includes a fast-paced first week, followed by 1-2 days of orientation on the floor.
Successful candidates will exhibit a positive attitude, good communication skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
Candidates must adhere to a fingernail policy prohibiting artificial nails for patient care.
All candidates must have a valid driver's license for submission purposes.
RTO must be communicated upfront, with a limit of seven days or less during a 13-week contract.
Additional RTO will not be approved after submission.
The hospital has a cancellation policy that allows for up to 4 shifts to be canceled during a 13-week assignment.
The charting system used is EPIC.
A BSN is not required for submission.
This position operates in an acute care setting with a trauma level of 2.
Nurses are expected to demonstrate strong clinical competencies and contribute positively to team dynamics.
