Description:
This position requires working in a patient care unit.
The unit has 40 beds with an average daily census of 24.
RN-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5 on both days and nights.
Common patient diagnoses include cardiac medical/surgical, dialysis, cancer, vascular issues, sepsis, respiratory conditions, stroke, post-stent, post-pacer placement, and renal failure.
RNs are required to titrate various drips such as Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and insulin.
There is a charge nurse on each shift who also takes an assignment.
Patient care technicians are available with a ratio of 1:12.
RNs must read and interpret telemetry strips.
Shift times are from 0630 to 1830 and 1830 to 0630.
Weekend requirements include every other weekend, and a minimum of two holidays is required during the contract timeframe.
Floating to med-surg or ICU to care for PCU acuity patients is necessary.
Navy blue scrub color is part of the dress code.
The unit emphasizes patient experience scores, responsiveness, and communication regarding medications.
Ideal candidates should be flexible, adaptable, and possess good communication skills.
The unit services diverse cultural populations.
Additional time off requests must be provided upfront.
The facility reserves the right to cancel shifts as needed during the assignment.
The charting system used is EPIC.
A BSN is not required for this position.
This is an acute care setting with a trauma level of 2.
