Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Day and Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years of acute care nursing experience, with at least 1 year of PCU experience License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Current acute care experience as defined, with 1 year of PCU experience required Description: This role involves caring for adult and geriatric patients primarily diagnosed with acute leukemia. The staffing ratio goal is 1:4, but can extend to 1:5 depending on unit conditions. Weekend shifts are variable based on unit needs. The unit has a heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient falls prevention. Experience in managing telemetry and interpreting dysrhythmias is required. Candidates should be proficient in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and care of central and peripheral lines. Knowledge and experience with computerized charting systems is essential. Candidates are expected to be cooperative with credentialing and compliance processes. References from a manager or supervisor are required. Candidates should be aware of additional credentialing processes that may involve fingerprinting. Preferred qualifications include oncology experience and familiarity with specific medical equipment.
