Job Opportunity – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse – Ohio

Start Date: October 5, 2026

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Night shift, 36 hours per week, 4:1 patient ratio. Some weekend shifts required (3 per contract). Float capability required within the organization. 72 hours of orientation provided.

Highlights:

  • Patient diagnoses include trauma, TBI, fractures, pneumonia, small bowel obstruction, and other progressive care conditions
  • Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and social services
  • First-time travelers welcome to apply with one year of relevant experience
  • 13-week travel contract with local candidates also accepted

Requirements:

  • Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
  • Minimum 1 year of progressive care or step-down nursing experience
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Telemetry experience required
  • Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Charge experience preferred
  • Education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
  • Two professional references required (one must be from manager/director or formal supervisor)
  • Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required
  • Completion of Ohio fingerprinting process immediately upon contract signing

Essential Skills:

  • Blood product administration and central line care/management
  • BiPAP/CPAP management and high flow nasal cannula
  • Cardiac drip management and titration
  • Interpretation of dysrhythmias and arterial blood gases
  • IV insulin and heparin protocol management
  • Chest tube, feeding tube, and tracheostomy care
  • PCA, wound care, and surgical drain management
  • Management of ortho trauma, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury patients
