The nurses in the Progressive Critical Care Unit care for medically delicate and surgically complex patients.
Common conditions include respiratory failure, sepsis, closed head injuries, multi-system organ dysfunction, endocrine disorders, complex traumas, and surgical complications.
Nurses must be competent in the care of medical and surgical populations.
Advanced skills in hemodynamic monitoring are essential, including the use of pressors per titration protocols.
Familiarity with antihypertensive, sedative, and narcan drips, as well as thrombo-embolytics, is required.
Knowledge of line, CVP, EVD, ortho traction, and infection prevention protocols is necessary.
Experience with HFNC, BiPap/Cpap, and oxypendent is also important.
Candidates with extensive adult PCU experience and community hospital ICU experience are likely to excel in this role.
The average patient load consists of 3 high-acuity patients.
A competency test is required within 24 hours of application submission.
