Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Competence in Arterial Lines Ability to titrate drips such as Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and insulin Ability to read and interpret cardiac strips Description: The position requires a Registered Nurse specializing in Stepdown care. RNs will work with patients including adults with cardiac, renal, and respiratory issues, among other diagnoses. The average daily census in this unit is 24 patients, with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5 during both day and night shifts. RNs are required to operate equipment including vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen. A charge nurse is present on each shift, and they do take patient assignments. Nurse assistants and patient care technicians are available in the unit with a ratio of 1:12 to RNs. RNs should be flexible, team-oriented, and possess effective communication skills. The unit serves diverse populations. Weekends and holidays are required during the contract period. Floating to MedSurg or ICU to care for PCU patients may be necessary. The dress code for the unit is navy blue scrubs. Candidates must adhere to a policy regarding artificial nails while providing patient care. RNs will participate in an exam during orientation. Successful nurses will demonstrate adaptability and openness to feedback throughout their tenure.
