Description:
This position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in stepdown care.
The unit typically accommodates 22 beds with a nurse to patient ratio of 1:4.
Common diagnoses include heart failure, atrial fibrillation, respiratory distress, and stroke.
RNs are required to titrate drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitroglycerin.
A charge nurse is present on each shift and takes a full patient assignment.
Patient care techs are available on this unit with a typical ratio of 1:10.
Registered Nurses must read and interpret telemetry strips.
This unit is fast-paced with frequent admits and discharges.
Weekend commitments require every other weekend coverage.
Holiday requirements include one major and one minor holiday per year.
Floating to the ICU may occur if appropriate and experienced.
All requests for time off must be submitted upfront, and additional requests will not be approved.
