The RN delegates interventions to healthcare personnel based on the Nursing Practice Act, each patient's condition, and the competencies of the employee. RNs in this role may work in hospital inpatient and outpatient departments with 24/7 staffing, including departments with on-call staffing on off shifts. Essential functions include conducting clinical assessments, identifying and prioritizing patient and family needs, and evaluating the nursing plan of care. The RN systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, supports evidence-based practice changes, and participates in quality improvement initiatives. Creating a compassionate, supportive, and safe environment for patients and families is fundamental. The RN develops therapeutic relationships while managing emotional and physical pain to promote comfort and healing.
