This role is in a stroke PCU with potential for floating to other units as needed. Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years experience in specialty. Must be able to work weekends and holidays. Candidates will be expected to work 3 out of 5 winter holidays. The patient ratio for days and nights is 4:1. The unit handles diagnoses such as hemorrhagic and ischemic strokes, traumatic head injuries, brain tumors, and seizure disorders. Comprehensive Stroke Center capabilities are present in the unit, including the ability to administer fresh tPA. Staff will receive interdisciplinary support from various departments, including Physical Therapy and Pharmacy. Skills in managing dysrhythmias and care for post TPA and pre/post neurosurgery patients are essential. Candidates will need to demonstrate competency in several required assessments related to progressive care nursing. Experience with the electronic charting system is mandatory.
