Description:
The unit provides inpatient management of patients before and after cardiac catheterization procedures, vascular interventions, open-heart surgery, and thoracic surgery.
Common patient populations include those with chest pain, heart failure, arrhythmias, and other cardiovascular and thoracic conditions.
The department ratios are 1:3 for the progressive population, while the more acute care population ratio is 1:4, with a maximum of 5 patients per nurse.
The requirement is for weekend shifts as per unit needs, with a minimum of 5 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule.
On-call duties are required once every 6 weeks.
Travelers will float between like units and may float to other facilities within operational needs.
Charting will be done through Epic software.
The nursing team provides interdisciplinary support, including physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, and pharmacy.
Good judgment in managing cardiac and vasoactive drips is required, along with experience in interpreting dysrhythmias and administering blood products.
