Description:
This position is for a registered nurse in a step-down unit.
The shift will consist of three 12-hour night shifts.
The primary patient population includes adults and geriatrics.
The unit primarily provides medical and post-surgical care for cardiac, vascular, and thoracic patients.
Common procedures include open heart surgery, thoracotomy, heart catheterization, and pacemaker implantation.
The daily census is approximately 43 patients.
The unit has a total of 48 beds.
Staffing support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, and pharmacy.
The nurse will be responsible for accessing/managing ports, managing cardiac telemetry, and administering blood products.
Skills required include the interpretation of dysrhythmias and arterial blood gases.
Nurses should have experience with IV management and non-invasive airway management.
Additional responsibilities may include procedural sedation administration and monitoring.
The nurse will work closely with interdisciplinary teams to provide patient care.
