Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1 year License: Valid compact or state license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Candidates must be able to pass the telemetry test. Float requirement may be needed within the unit. Every other weekend availability is required. Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in step down care. The role requires experience with telemetry monitoring. Candidates will care for patients recovering from surgical procedures. The nurse-to-patient ratio in this unit is typically 4-5:1. All attempts will be made to maintain a safer ratio of 4:1. The Progressive Care NP ratio aims for 3-4:1 with efforts to keep it at 3:1. Responsibilities include blood product administration and central line management. Experience with heparin protocols and interpretation of dysrhythmias is essential. Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE usage is required. The nurse will manage IV insulin protocols and monitor patients effectively. Skills in non-invasive airway management and oxygen administration are needed. Telemetry experience is critical, both for unit and remote monitoring. Additional skills include wound care management and peripheral line care. Candidates should have the ability to perform phlebotomy and PICC line management. The position requires strong communication skills to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams. A focus on patient safety and quality care is paramount in this role.
