Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 3 years in PCU experience required License: Valid state license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS required Must-Have: - Previous charge experience: 2 years - Experience with Epic charting system preferred - Travel experience required - Patient ratio experience: 1:3 Description: Weekdays and some weekends required. Rotating holidays included. Floating within units of equivalent or lower levels of acuity is required. Experience in lower acuity cardiac care preferred. Estimated patient ratios are 1:3. Candidates must have years of PCU experience. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications are required. Skills required include IV start, telemetry, and experience with the designated patient population. Candidates must be able to access and manage ports, handle arterial line management, and administer blood products. Management of cardiac drips without titration and understanding of respiratory protocols such as BiPAP/CPAP management is essential. Ability to interpret arterial blood gases and dysrhythmias is needed. Peripheral line care, phlebotomy, and PICC line management experience are necessary. Candidates should be capable of managing patients post-cardiac surgery, including sheath removal and tracheostomy care. Wound care and vacuum-assisted closure (Wound Vac) skills are beneficial. Daily census in the unit is 26 patients. The unit may receive patients directly from the operating room, post-anesthesia recovery, or through direct admission. Patient diagnoses include surgical progressive care, vascular and cardiac surgery patients, and individuals with chronic or acute conditions. Interdisciplinary support will be available from various services, including physical therapy and social services.
