Must be willing to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity. Responsibilities include providing care to patients within the Progressive Care Unit. Maintain a patient ratio of approximately 1 nurse to 5 patients. Utilize skills in IV starts and telemetry monitoring. Familiarity with an electronic health record system for documentation is required. Patient diagnoses may include kidney transplants, liver transplants, pancreas transplants, infections, acute kidney injury, and uncontrolled diabetes. Special procedures may include telemetry, bladder scanning, paracentesis, and kidney biopsy recovery. This unit operates as a combined ICU/PCU. Travelers will not be expected to care for ICU level patients and will work only within the PCU scope. Interdisciplinary support is provided by various services including physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. The unit features 22 beds and has an average daily census of 20 patients. Candidates must be prepared to complete credentialing and compliance processes in a timely manner. Two professional references are required, one from a manager or supervisor. Education must be from an accredited nursing program.
