Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intermediate Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 3 years License: Must have an active RN License Certifications: BLS, CPI required; ACLS preferred Must-Have: Charge experience preferred, experience with patient ratios of 2-3 Description: Specialty: Intermediate Care RN. Night shift for 3 consecutive 12-hour shifts. Weekend shifts required: 3-4 weekend shifts per 4-week block. Holidays required as scheduled. Floating required within skillset. Patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:3. First-time travelers accepted. Must have previous experience managing high acuity patients. Assist in central line insertion, chest tube insertion, and para/thoracentesis. Patients receive bedside hemodialysis and plasmapheresis. Responsibilities include cardioversion, administering adenosine, and managing chemotherapy and IV immunoglobulin. Tracheostomy exchanges and bronchoscopies with secure airway management are required. The unit is classified as a high acuity intermediate care stepdown. Interdisciplinary support includes respiratory therapy and pharmacy. Patients often require ICU step-up or step-down care. A mix of emergency department patients and medical upgrades from the floor may include various critical conditions. Experience with various equipment and procedures is essential for managing complex cases. Preferred skills include arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, and interpretation of dysrhythmias. Effective monitoring and management of patients post-cardiac procedures and renal failure is required. Responsibilities also include tracheostomy care, wound care, and implementing rapid response protocols.
