Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intermediate Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required. License: Active Illinois nursing license required. Certifications: BLS and NIHSS required, ACLS preferred. Must-Have: Experience in telemetry, neuro stepdown, PCU/IMC. Must have skills in cardiac monitoring and emergency response, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias. Required skills in post-cardiac angiogram, post-MI, and pre/post cardiac catheterization management. Experience with hemodialysis management and renal failure is necessary. IV therapy skills including arterial line management and phlebotomy are essential. Experience in managing cardiac drips and procedural sedation administration is required. Experience with neurologic and orthopedic cases, including craniotomies and total joint replacements, is necessary. Required skills in respiratory management for ventilated patients and interpretation of ABGs. Knowledge in wound care and isolation precautions is expected. Description: This position requires an RN working in an Intermediate Care Unit. The RN will manage a varied patient population with complex clinical needs. The ideal candidate will float within a multi-disciplinary team. Staff are encouraged to participate in professional development and education. Candidates should be ready for a fast-paced environment. Nurse to patient ratios are typically 1:4. Experience in a teaching hospital or level I trauma center is preferred. Experience with Cerner charting systems is a plus.
