RTO, Block & Special Scheduling Requests: All requests must be included with the submission. CALL OFF POLICY: Facility is allowed to call off 1 shift per 2 weeks. HOLIDAY REQUIREMENT: Must work one holiday per 13-week contract. ACCEPT FIRST-TIME TRAVELERS: Yes. LOCALS ACCEPTED: Yes, radius rule applies. PENDING LICENSE ACCEPTED: Yes, only if the candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state. Otherwise, submission must include an active state or compact RN license. REQUIRED CLINICAL SKILLS: Cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and dysrhythmia interpretation/management. IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care. Ventilator care for chronic trach patients. Medication administration including cardiac drips (no titration). Respiratory support: nasal cannula, oxygen administration, CPAP, and BiPAP. Rapid Response and Code team activation. Isolation precautions and telemetry settings across PCU, DOU, IMC, and stepdown units. UNIT DETAILS AND FLOATING: Ratios: Typically 1:5. Staffing goal is 1:4. Functions as a stepdown from the General Surgical ICU, with bariatric specialty and backup to the trauma unit. 2 beds for chronic trach patients (not ICU level). Oxygen Support: CPAP and BiPAP. Equipment: Ortho equipment, chest tubes, surgical drains, trach, endo tool, PICC line, and IV drips. Managed IV drips include Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low-dose dopamine/dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitro, Bumex, Lasix, Lidocaine, and Ketamine. Remote telemetry with monitors remaining on unit; tele sitting implemented to increase Patient Care Tech coverage. Floating: Will be required to float within skillset. HOSPITAL HIGHLIGHTS: A large acute care facility recognized as a Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated, and a teaching hospital. The hospital offers advanced specialty care, including bariatric, trauma, and surgical services. PATIENT AGE GROUPS: Adults and geriatrics. DAILY CENSUS: Approximately 20 patients. ADDITIONAL UNIT INFORMATION: Interdisciplinary support available, including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Interpretation Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, and Pharmacy. Patient diagnoses primarily involve surgical cases and patients in need of stepdown care. Special procedures and equipment utilized include telemetry and various forms of respiratory support. Goal patient ratio is 4:1, and there may be times when staff is asked to float to another unit or level of care.
