There are 95 staff members on the unit. The day shift includes 2 Charge Nurses, 11 RNs, 4 CNAs, and 1 HUC. The night shift also includes 2 Charge Nurses, 11 RNs, 4 CNAs, and 1 HUC. Patient ratios are 4:1 at grid and 5:1 when stretched. Equipment utilized includes IV pumps, Skylifts, PCA pumps, chest tubes, trachs, and patient lifts. The electronic medical record system used is Cerner. Typical skills recruited for include: Neuro and Trauma Care experience. Typical procedures performed on the unit include: Neuro and spinal checks. C-Collar placement, TLSO braces. Chest tube and PCA pump management. IV infusions and lumbar drain placements. Feeding tube placements and blood transfusions. The best personality fit is someone who is a team player and patient-focused. Floating to stepdown and med-surg units may be required. The dress code is scrub color/attire - navy blue. Every other weekend is required.
