Description:
This position requires working the night shift, including every other weekend.
Thanksgiving and one other winter holiday will be required.
The unit is a high acuity, fast-paced surgical step-down unit.
Candidates with an ICU background typically perform well in this environment.
The nurse-to-patient ratio is 4:1 and sometimes 3:1.
Nurses must be willing to manage various devices, including chest tubes, arterial lines, PICC lines, and other central lines.
Experience with ostomies, trachs, NG tubes, and wound vacs is necessary.
Candidates should be comfortable with multiple drains.
Knowledge of drips and IV infusions, including heparin, insulin, nitroglycerin, amiodarone, and cardizem, is essential.
